"Kebbi NUJ Launches Campaign Against Fake Journalists"

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kebbi State Council has taken a bold stance against impostors and quacks damaging the reputation of journalists.

 Chairman, Comrade Garba Muhammad Yeldu issued a warning at one day NUJ/Security Engagement Session, emphasizing the union's determination to stop unregistered and unaccredited individuals from intimidating and blackmailing government officials for personal gain.

Comrade Yeldu, expressed ways  to address quackery challenges in the state, which the leadership will partner with Security Agencies such as  the Nigerian Police Force and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps among others to identify and prosecute impostors.

Equally, to reposition the NUJ by ways of encouraging professional journalism practices among members, While urging employer to  comply by way of remitting check-off dues to the NUJ as mandated by law.

The NUJ National Vice President, Comrade Muhammad Tukur Umar Dutsinmari, pledged support to the Kebbi State Council in combating quackery. He also urged employers to remit check-off dues deducted from journalists' salaries to the NUJ, as required by law.

By taking these steps, the NUJ aims to protect the reputation of journalists and maintain the integrity of the profession, ultimately salvaging many issues facing the union. The NUJ's code of conduct emphasizes the importance of honest and fair journalism, and the union will support journalists who act according to this code.
