Kaduna, Nigeria, April 07,2026(Series News Online) - The Kaduna Integrity Group (KIG) has dismissed a recent press conference by a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as "a desperate exercise in political theatrics" and "a gathering of a fractured house speaking with no authority".
In a statement signed by Comrade Abdulrazaq Musa and Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, KIG questioned the legitimacy of the press conference, asking, "Which ADC is speaking? A party divided into factions, with parallel secretariats across Kaduna, cannot suddenly present itself as the moral voice of democracy."
The group accused the faction, reportedly led by Prof. Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau), of lacking coherence, credibility, and legitimacy, saying it was "a party in disarray" and Prof Maina was a "political orphan grasping for relevance".
KIG defended the Kaduna State House of Assembly's actions, saying they were "constitutionally ignorant and politically selective" to criticize the legislature's oversight role. "The legislature acted squarely within its oversight powers," the group stated, adding that the same constitutional provisions were exercised during former Governor Nasir El-Rufai's tenure.
"What was lawful yesterday cannot become unlawful today simply because the political winds have shifted," KIG said, dismissing attempts to rebrand legitimate oversight as persecution as "nothing more than political mischief".
The group rejected attempts to involve anti-corruption agencies, saying, "These institutions are established by law to act on credible evidence—not to be weaponised by politicians seeking sympathy."
On KASUPDA and urban development enforcement, KIG said the ADC's claims were "not only exaggerated but demonstrably false", saying Governor Uba Sani's administration has adopted a more restrained and restitution-driven approach.
The group contrasted the current administration's policies with previous practices, alleging earlier governments carried out "ruthless demolitions" that affected high-profile individuals. "Today, the approach is different—more humane, more balanced, and more responsive to the rights of citizens," KIG stated.
Comrade Abdulrazaq Musa and Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim concluded, "The Kaduna ADC's outing was less about democracy and more about desperation. If the Kaduna ADC is serious about being taken seriously, it must first fix its internal crisis."
