Gen. Bande Joins ADC, Pledges to Build Strong Opposition in Kebbi

Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria, April 06,2026(Series News Online) - Major General Aminu Bande (Rtd) MNI, the former PDP gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections, has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Gen. Bande made the announcement on Monday, April 6, 2026, at a ceremony in Birnin Kebbi, where he was warmly received by the Kebbi State leadership of ADC.

"I have taken this decision with my family, political associates, friends, supporters, and the general public," Gen. Bande said. "We are drawn to ADC's ideology and its commitment to addressing the nation's insecurity, socioeconomic challenges, and poor political policies."

Gen. Bande revealed that he had been working behind the scenes with Hon. Abubakr Malami SAN to build ADC in Kebbi State for almost a year. He called on the leadership of ADC, PDP, PRP, SDP, and some elements of the Labour Party to form a committee to build a strong, united party to rescue Kebbi State.

He also appealed to ADC members to put aside their personal interests and focus on building the party, protecting it from external influence.

The event was attended virtually by notable stakeholders, including former Attorney General Barr. Abubakr Malami SAN and former Member, House of Representatives, Hon. Shehu Muhammad Koko.
