Abuja Nigeria April 29,2026(Series News Online)- A renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Muhajjadina Sani Kano, has called on political actors across party lines to show restraint and political maturity as activities build up toward the 2027 general elections.

Sheikh Muhajjadina, who is also President of the African Association of Astrologers, made the appeal on Monday during an interview with reporters in his Abuja office. He warned that provocative statements and desperate maneuvers for power could jeopardize national peace and economic stability.

“As the 2027 elections approach, politicians in both the ruling party and the opposition are intensifying efforts either to hold on to power or to take over at different levels of government,” he said.

“This is why I am appealing to all political actors to apply foresight, exercise patience, and avoid utterances or conduct capable of threatening the peace and economic well-being of the nation,” Sheikh Muhajjadina stated.

He explained that his warning became necessary due to the rising tension in the political space, where the struggle for power is becoming increasingly intense.

“Lately, we have witnessed a surge in defections from one party to another. Some feel aggrieved and believe they were shortchanged, while others insist that the four-year mandate of certain elected officials did not deliver results. As a result, they are determined to bring about change by every means possible,” he said.

The cleric warned that such developments could further destabilize the country, which is already grappling with insecurity and economic hardship.

“These trends pose serious threats to national stability, especially at a time when Nigeria is battling banditry and terrorism in several states, coupled with economic difficulties arising from current government policies and programmes,” he noted.

“This is a period that demands responsibility. Politicians must avoid actions and statements that can escalate tensions,” Sheikh Muhajjadina added.

He urged politicians and citizens alike to consult experts in astrology for guidance on prevailing challenges. While admitting that the nation’s leadership faces daunting problems, he expressed hope that Nigeria would surmount them.

“There are indeed serious challenges before the country’s leaders, but with divine intervention, the nation will overcome its present security and economic difficulties,” he said.

Sheikh Muhajjadina also appealed to voters to be vigilant and deliberate in choosing leaders at all levels during the 2027 elections.

“It is not proper for the electorate to be influenced by petty inducements such as food items or token amounts of money when deciding who should lead them for four years,” he said.

“Instead, attention should be given to competence, integrity, and the ability to deliver tangible development,” Sheikh Muhajjadina added.
