Borno APC Rallies Behind Tinubu-Shettima Ticket for 2027

 Borno, Nigeria, April 26,2026(Series News Online)- The All Progressives Congress in Borno State has unanimously adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as its joint candidates for the 2027 general elections.  

The endorsement was made on Saturday during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting convened in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum chaired the session, which recorded a large turnout of the party’s key leaders and officeholders.  

The resolution followed a motion moved by Governor Zulum backing the Tinubu-Shettima ticket to fly the APC’s flag in 2027. The motion received unanimous support from those present.  

Addressing the meeting, Zulum urged party members to work collectively to secure a decisive victory for the APC in Borno State in the forthcoming polls.  

“Our success in 2027 depends on sustaining the unity that has kept this party strong,” the governor said.  

“For the past seven years, this administration has treated all stakeholders fairly. We pray that Allah grants us a successor who will consolidate on the gains we have recorded,” he added.  

Zulum assured party faithful that governance would not suffer because of politics, pledging to continue delivering democratic dividends to the people of Borno.  

“Politics will not distract me. I remain committed to providing the people of Borno with the benefits of democracy,” he said.  

The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur; APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori; State APC Chairman, Bello Ayuba; and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari.  

Also present were three former deputy governors, the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, serving and former senators, serving and former members of the House of Representatives and the State Assembly, as well as state and local government party executives.  

Other dignitaries included the Secretary to the Borno State Government, Bukar Tijani; Acting Chief of Staff, Dr. Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe; the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Legal and Compliance Matters in the Office of the Vice President, Barrister Bashir Maidugu; former commissioners; special advisers; and other senior political appointees of the Borno State Government.
