The 9-man Special Investigation Committee probing the death of two sisters at Zuru General Hospital has commenced its sitting today, Monday, March 23, 2026.
Led by Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, the committee arrived in Zuru yesterday and paid a Sallah visit to the Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Mikailu Sami, to discuss the assignment.
"The establishment of the Committee demonstrates the commitment of Governor Nasir Idris to the welfare of the people of Kebbi state," Ahmed BK said. "The Governor was deeply touched by the news of the death, especially with rumors of alleged dereliction and negligence on the part of some hospital workers."
The Emir commended the Governor for his prompt action, saying it showed his excellent leadership qualities and commitment to justice and fairness. "This has further shown the excellent leadership qualities of the Governor and his commitment to justice and fairness," he said.
The committee will investigate the circumstances leading to the death of the two sisters and ensure justice is served. The Emir and committee members later visited the parents of the deceased to offer condolences.
"We are poised to be thorough in the execution of our assignment, and no stone will be left unturned to unravel the circumstances leading to the incident," Ahmed BK assured.
The family spokesperson, Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi Shuni, expressed gratitude to the Governor for setting up the committee. "We were substantially relieved believing that we have not been left alone to bemoan our fate alone," he said.
The committee has one week to complete its assignment.
