The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that the security situation in Alwasa Village, Argungu Local Government Area, is under control following a violent clash on Monday.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the incident occurred during the Sallah celebration and involved a confrontation between some youths, resulting in injuries and fatalities. "The incident, which occurred on 23rd March 2026, involved a confrontation between some youths and resulted in injuries. One of the victims subsequently succumbed to his injuries on 24th March 2026 while receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Argungu," the statement read.
A reprisal attack followed, leading to additional fatalities. The police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident and are working to identify and apprehend those involved.
Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, condemned the acts and warned that anyone found engaging in unlawful or violent conduct will be dealt with decisively. "Anyone found engaging in unlawful or violent conduct will be dealt with decisively," he said.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. "Residents are urged to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and refrain from taking the law into their hands," the statement added.
The police have deployed personnel to maintain law and order, and further updates will be communicated as necessary.
