SAZU Bauchi Opens Doors to 4,024 New Students

Sa'adu Zungur University, Gadau (SAZU), has officially welcomed 4,024 new students to its community, marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey.

The institution's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fatimah Tahir, announced this during the 13th matriculation ceremony, held simultaneously at the Gadau and Yuli campuses.

Prof. Tahir revealed that the 4,024 students were selected from a pool of 9,378 applicants, with 1,434 females and 2,590 males completing their registration for the 2025/2026 session.

"As educators and guardians, our role extends beyond imparting knowledge to shaping the character of our students, equipping them with the values and principles necessary to become responsible citizens," Prof. Tahir emphasized.

She warned the new students that SAZU has a zero-tolerance policy for anti-social behavior, including cultism, examination malpractice, and sexual harassment, among others.

Represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Bala Maaji Abdulhamid, Prof. Tahir assured the students of the university's commitment to providing academic and social support, urging them to respect the facilities and resources provided.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed gratitude to Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, for his dedication to education, and acknowledged the contributions of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and TETFund to the university's development.

A breakdown of the admitted students shows that the Faculty of Science has the highest number with 935 students, followed by the Faculty of Social Sciences (877), and Management Sciences (587).

The matriculation ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of these students, and SAZU is poised to provide them with the necessary tools to succeed.
