The Kebbi State Government has established a high-level committee to provide relief assistance to victims displaced by insecurity in four local government areas.
The committee, announced in a statement by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, aims to address humanitarian challenges arising from recent security threats in Yauri, Shanga, Ngaski, and Koko Besse LGAs.
"The committee has been directed to immediately swing into action and commence the provision of relief assistance to displaced victims," the statement read.
Hon. Muhammed Hamidu Jarkuka, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, will lead the committee, which includes officials from SEMA, local government chairmen, and security representatives.
"We are committed to ensuring the continuous provision of relief materials to displaced persons until normalcy is fully restored," Jarkuka said.
The committee's tasks include relocating to the affected areas and providing relief materials. Operations are set to begin Monday, February 2, 2026.
Members are optimistic about restoring peace and stability in the affected areas.
