The Kebbi State Government has allocated over N714 million to support the education of its citizens studying in various universities abroad. This move underscores the state's commitment to providing quality education to its residents.
According to Commissioner of Higher Education, Hon. Abubakar Isah Tunga, the approved funds include N177,349,064.06 for registration, tuition, upkeep, visa extension, and internship for 28 students studying in Subharti and GD Goenka Universities in India. Additionally, N117,686,000 was approved for upkeep allowances for 25 students studying medicine in seven universities in Egypt.
The Governor also approved N70,216,078.08 as financial assistance to students studying pharmacy and medical sciences in Jaipur National and GD Goenka Universities in India. Furthermore, N349,730,000 was approved for registration, tuition, and upkeep allowances for 35 students leaving for Ethiopia to study medicine and pharmacy.
"The Ministry for Higher Education remains committed to the standards and epitomes of His Excellency Dr. Nasir Idris," said Isah Abubakar Tunga, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry for Higher Education.
Governor Nasir Idris has also appointed Nurs. Dr. Muhammed Murtala Musa as the pioneer provost of Kauran Gwandu College of Midwifery Sciences, Ambursa, as part of efforts to enhance the state's education sector.
