The Kebbi State Government is set to distribute free grains and agricultural inputs to over one million people across the state, Governor Nasir Idris has announced. The initiative aims to support citizens during the holy month of Ramadan and boost food production.
"We are committed to fulfilling our promises and implementing policies that positively affect the majority of the population," Governor Idris said while hosting special advisers and chairmen of boards and parastatals at a Ramadan Iftar in Birnin Kebbi on Friday. "Each beneficiary will receive at least one item, and the programme is designed to cushion the effects of hardship and accelerate agricultural productivity."
The distribution will include rice, maize, millet, fertilizers, herbicides, power tillers, solar pumps, and other critical farm inputs. Governor Idris emphasized that his administration's people-centered approach to governance prioritizes the welfare of ordinary citizens, particularly in times of economic challenges.
"The leadership must directly impact the lives of citizens," he stressed.
The Governor also directed the Secretary to the State Government to pay outstanding furniture allowances to affected advisers and chairmen of boards and parastatals.
Earlier, Alhaji Zayyanu Shehu Sanka, Chairman of the Kebbi State Advisers' Forum, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his generosity and inclusive leadership. "The appointment of a large number of advisers demonstrates the Governor's confidence in their capacity to serve," he said.
Prof. Suleiman Khalid Jega, Chairman of the Forum of Heads of Boards and Parastatals, commended the Governor for remarkable achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, and social interventions. "The administration has not only fulfilled campaign promises but exceeded expectations," he said, assuring the Governor of their unwavering support.
