"Kebbi's PAVE Network Unveils Strategy to Combat Extremism"

The PAVE Network Kebbi State Chapter has outlined its strategy to tackle violent extremism in the state, emphasizing community engagement and collaboration with government agencies. Speaking at a press conference, Chairman Alhaji Fahad Labbo highlighted the organization's progress in capacity building, dialogue, and advocacy.

"We have conducted multi-stakeholder workshops aimed at building government and community technical capacity for PCVE," Labbo said. "These engagements have strengthened understanding of local drivers of extremism and laid the groundwork for inclusive prevention planning".

The network has facilitated dialogues on PCVE co-creation, bringing communities and government actors together to design action plans. Labbo emphasized the need for collective action, citing challenges such as youth unemployment and socio-economic exclusion.

"Security operations alone cannot end violent extremism," he said. "This is a shared governance, development, and community resilience challenge".

Labbo noted that the Kebbi State government has shown commitment to addressing violent extremism, with the PAVE Network working closely with authorities to develop a State Action Plan (SAP) and Local Action Plans (LAPs).

The PAVE Network calls on residents, traditional leaders, youth, and government agencies to collaborate in preventing violent extremism. "Together, we can prevent the spread of violent extremism, protect our families and communities, and ensure prosperity and peace for Kebbi State," Labbo said.

The organization has also engaged in community resilience campaigns, focusing on peace education, tolerance messaging, and conflict awareness. These efforts aim to strengthen community networks and counter extremist narratives.
