The Kebbi State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed deep gratitude to Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris for donating three truckloads of rice to Christians in the state, easing their Christmas celebrations.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Ayuba Kanta, Kebbi State CAN Chairman, conveyed the appreciation while overseeing the rice distribution across the state's 21 local government areas. "We bless Almighty God for these good tidings from our leaders, the President of Nigeria and our magnanimous Governor, His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu. We have never had it so good," he said.
The donation includes 3,600 bags of 25kg rice from the state government, complementing 1,200 bags of 50kg rice from the Federal Government. The rice will benefit Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), widows, orphanages, and various CAN groups.
"The gesture reflects the Governor's commitment to inclusiveness, compassion, and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths in Kebbi State," Rt. Rev. Dr. Kanta noted. He prayed that the donation would reach those in need and assured judicious distribution.
Special Adviser on Christian Affairs, Rev. Dr. Sam Audu, and ECWA Block CAN Head, Hussaini Bara Bauta, echoed the appreciation, describing the donation as a beacon of hope strengthening unity and mutual respect.
The CAN Chairman urged Christians and Muslims to promote unity and peaceful coexistence, noting gradual improvements in economic conditions, security, and welfare under current leadership. Christians will continue praying for Nigeria, its leaders, unity, peace, and development.
