Kaduna, Kaduna State — November 26, 2025(Series news online)- The High Court of Justice of Kaduna State, Kaduna Judicial Division, has granted an interim injunction restraining Elder Patrick D. Ambut and Victor Oluwatuyi from holding themselves out as, or performing the functions of, Chairman and Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Kaduna State Chapter. Hon. Justice A. Y. John delivered the ruling in case KDB/KAD/1734/2025 after an ex‑parte motion filed by Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha and eleven other legitimate members of the state executive committee.
In a press statement issued by Engineer Idris Musa, State Publicity Secretary of ADC Kaduna, the court ordered that Ambut and Oluwatuyi must not exercise the powers or duties of the said offices, nor conduct any party affairs on behalf of the state chapter. The judgment also prohibits the relocation of the party’s secretariat located at No. 11 Katsina Road, opposite the Kaduna State Pilgrims Board. Furthermore, the ADC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are barred from recognizing the duo in their disputed capacities.
Justice John underscored that the decision upholds internal party democracy and the rule of law. A representative of the claimants remarked, “Today’s ruling is a triumph for justice and internal democracy within the ADC. It underscores the judiciary’s vital role in resolving disputes and ensuring that the will of the party’s members is respected and its structures protected.”
The matter has been adjourned to December 17, 2025, for hearing of the substantive application. The legitimate state executive committee reaffirmed its commitment to the party constitution and to transparent, democratic governance for its members and the people of Kaduna State. All parties were urged to comply fully with the injunction to preserve peace and respect the judicial process.
