CS‑SUNN Kebbi Elects New State Executive, Rebecca Erza Dikki Named Coordinator

The Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS‑SUNN) Kebbi State Chapter held an election to choose its new executive members for a three‑year tenure. The poll was conducted by the national body of CS‑SUNN under the supervision of Ibrahim Tudu, National Resource Mobilization Lead, Abuja headquarters.

All seven positions were uncontested, yet delegates cast votes to comply with the electoral guidelines. Declaring the results, Ibrahim Tudu said:

“Upon the powers vested in me, I hereby declare Rebecca Erza Dikki, who was screened, cleared, and elected unopposed from Youth Advancement Organization of Nigeria (YAON), as State Coordinator of CS‑SUNN Kebbi Chapter, along with six other executive members, for a period of three years.”

Outgoing Coordinator Recheal Samuel Hassan, presenting the chapter’s achievements, highlighted:

“Under my tenure we strengthened commitment to food and nutrition with support from UNICEF. We successfully championed key policy and funding reforms, including: paid maternity leave extended from three to six months; the State Food and Nutrition Policy approved, launched and disseminated; and a multi‑sectoral plan of action for food and nutrition signed, launched and implemented.”

She added that a ₦500 million matching grant for UNICEF programmes was secured, plus ₦250 million released for nutrition services across all 21 LGAs.

“These achievements provide a stronger policy environment, secure substantial funding for nutrition, and foster multi‑sectoral collaboration to combat malnutrition in the state. I congratulate the incoming team and urge them to work according to global standards and be proactive in advancing nutrition activities.”

Rebecca Erza Dikki, the newly elected Coordinator, expressed gratitude in her acceptance speech:

“I am overwhelmed and short of words. I assure you that electing me as State Coordinator, CS‑SUNN Kebbi Chapter, you will never regret. I will do my best to bring meaningful development. I thank everyone for finding me worthy of leadership and acknowledge the effort and support of the national body for making this election successful.”

The election was observed by the State Director of Nutrition, the Director of Budget, representatives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and other stakeholders.

The chapter now looks forward to implementing the policy gains and expanding its reach to improve nutrition outcomes for mothers and children across Kebbi State.
