Capacity Building Training: 60 Kebbi Educational Institutions' Stakeholders Trained on GBV Response

The Technical Working Group (TWG) on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Kebbi State, led by the office of Her Excellency Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has organized a two-day capacity building training for members of educational institutions and other stakeholders on GBV prevention and rapid response.

The training, held at the Kebbi Teaching Hospital Conference Hall in Kalgo, aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to GBV cases in educational institutions. Comrade Nasir Idris, Secretary of the TWG on GBV, emphasized the importance of collective action in fighting GBV, stating, "Fighting GBV is not the duty of a few; it is the shared responsibility of every one of us."

Her Excellency Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, represented by former Permanent Secretary Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Hajiya Rafaatu Hammani, declared the training open, highlighting the need for proactive measures to tackle GBV. "We must come together and fight this menace within us," she said.

The training covered topics such as GBV prevention strategies, psychological support, and survivor-centered care. Participants were urged to dedicate themselves to learning and applying the skills gained during the training to prevent and respond to GBV cases in their institutions.

Representative of the Commissioner for Higher Education, Nasiru Saadu Fakai, pledged the ministry's commitment to supporting the establishment of GBV response teams in educational institutions. "We will provide guidance and support to ensure the teams are functional and effective," he said.

   The training is expected to benefit 60 participants from different institutions and stakeholders in the state, enhancing their capacity to prevent and respond to GBV cases.
