NPF Kebbi Personnel Get Training on Thorough Investigation, Prosecution from Zakariya SAN

A prominent Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Hussaini Zakariya, has imparted valuable knowledge to personnel of the Kebbi State Police Command on the importance of thorough investigation and diligent prosecution in the criminal justice system. The training, held in Birnin Kebbi, aimed to enhance the skills of police personnel in handling criminal cases.

Zakariya emphasized that the Police Act 2020 and the Kebbi State Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) 2020 underscore the need for lawful and professional conduct in all stages of investigation and prosecution. He warned that failure to adhere to due process can lead to miscarriages of justice, wrongful arrests, and erosion of public trust in the justice system.

"A successful criminal justice system hinges on meticulous investigation and diligent prosecution," Zakariya stated. "When investigations are thorough and prosecutions are fair, the rule of law is upheld, and public trust is enhanced."

The SAN called for continuous reforms and collaboration among stakeholders to improve the justice system. He emphasized that well-trained police investigators and prosecutors are crucial to ensuring justice, peace, and order in society.

In a goodwill gesture, Zakariya announced that his chamber would sponsor any police officer in Kebbi State who wishes to study law at the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, starting from the next academic session.

The one-day training, organized by Zakariya's Law Savannah Chambers, drew participants from various units of the police command, including prosecutors, detectives, and personnel from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

The training was held in honor of retiring Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mr. Ishaq Salihu Ismail, who commended Zakariya for his contributions to the Nigeria Police Force in Kebbi State.
