A new dawn is breaking in Kebbi State, as Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris and the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum join forces to drive security, peace, and economic growth. The landmark Security and Economic Development Summits, a first-of-its-kind gathering, brought together a diverse array of stakeholders, including policymakers, scholars, entrepreneurs, and traditional leaders.
The summit's theme, "Kebbi Ascends: Unlocking Opportunities for Inclusive Socio-Economic Development," underscored the imperative of collective action in harnessing the state's vast resources to boost revenue, create employment opportunities, and accelerate industrialization. In a keynote address, Governor Idris emphasized that security is a shared responsibility that requires the active involvement of government agencies, security operatives, traditional leaders, and the citizenry.
"Securing Kebbi State from banditry and other nefarious activities demands a collaborative effort. Without peace, development will remain an elusive dream," he declared. The Governor pledged to consider and implement the recommendations of the Elders Forum, as outlined in the communique on security matters. He also highlighted his administration's notable achievements, including the establishment of a State Security Committee and investments in intelligence gathering and technology.
On the economic front, Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration's commitment to diversifying the state's economy, with a focus on agriculture, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, solid minerals development, trade, and entrepreneurship. "Agriculture will remain the bedrock of our economy, and we will continue to invest in infrastructure, including roads, electrification, and water supply, to unlock opportunities for our farmers," he said.
Other notable speakers, including Prof. Tijjani Muhammad Bande, Sen. Muhammadu Adamu Aliero, and Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, lauded the government's efforts and urged continued collaboration and investment in critical sectors. The Chairman of the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum, Gen. Muhammadu Magoro (rtd), praised Governor Idris for his visionary leadership and partnership, noting that the summit's success was a testament to his administration's commitment to progress.
