In a surprise move, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has reappointed Prof. Asabe Sadiya Mohammed as the Provost of Aminu Saleh College of Education (ASCOE), Azare, despite opposition from the Bauchi State House of Assembly. The decision was made after a stakeholders' meeting held on Friday, which included the Governor, Commissioner for Higher Education, College governing council chairman and members, the Provost, and representatives of academic and non-academic staff unions.

The Assembly had recommended against Prof. Asabe's reappointment, citing several complaints against her leadership. However, Governor Mohammed intervened, urging all stakeholders to put the institution's development above personal differences. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to strengthening tertiary education across the state.

Speaking with journalists after her reappointment, Prof. Asabe expressed her gratitude to the Governor and all those who supported her. "I would like to express my special appreciation to His Excellency, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Executive Governor of Bauchi State, for considering me worthy of reappointment," she said.

Prof. Asabe noted that the recent challenges had strengthened her resolve to deliver on the College's goals and objectives. "This reappointment is a testament to the collective effort and dedication of the College community," she said. "I am excited about what the future holds and ready to continue leading the College forward."

The newly reappointed Provost assured that her administration would continue to focus on academic excellence, infrastructural development, and institutional stability. She thanked the Governor, Commissioner for Higher Education, and other stakeholders for their support.
