The Kebbi State Executive Council has approved the procurement of 2,000 power tillers at a cost of N3 billion for distribution to farmers across the state. This was disclosed by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Shehu Muazu, during a joint briefing with other commissioners at the Government House hall in Birnin Kebbi.

According to the Commissioner, the approval is part of the state's efforts to mechanize the agricultural sector and promote youth and women involvement in farming. "At the beginning of Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu's administration, he launched his development agenda tagged 'Kauran Agricultural Development Agenda (KADAGE),'" Muazu said. "One of the main objectives is to mechanize the agricultural sector, paving the way for youths and women, especially educated ones, to key in."

Muazu explained that the state government has already purchased and distributed several farm machineries to farmers free of charge. "Today, the council has deliberated and approved the procurement of additional 2,000 power tillers at the cost of N3 billion for distribution to farmers across the state," he said. "This is under the chairmanship of the governor, Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, and it's what we have in the agricultural sector for today's council meeting."

The approval is expected to boost agricultural productivity and reduce the workload for farmers in the state. The Kebbi State government's efforts to promote agriculture and support farmers are in line with its commitment to improving the lives of its citizens.
