"Kogi Police Launch Manhunt for Killers of 3 Officers, 2 Vigilantes"

The Kogi State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the gunmen who killed three police officers and two vigilantes in an attack on Wednesday morning in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of the state. The incident occurred at a pin-down point along Okoloke-Pategi road, Egbe, where the victims were part of a patrol team.

According to the command's spokesman, SP Ovye Aya Williams, the attack resulted in the death of three police officers before a reinforced team arrived at the scene. "The Commissioner of Police, Miller G. Dantawaye, has ordered the deployment of a tactical team comprising police mobile force, counter-terrorism unit, anti-kidnapping, intelligence, and quick response units to work in synergy with other security agencies to hunt down the killers," Williams said in a statement.

The CP has also tasked the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Investigation Department, to commence an investigation into the incident. Williams quoted the CP as saying, "The CP calls on the good people of the area to assist the police with credible information on the identity of the hoodlums to enable the police trail and apprehend them."

The police command is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore normalcy in the area. The people of Kogi State are urged to remain calm and cooperate with the security agencies to ensure the successful apprehension of the killers.
