"Jega Traders Hail Tinubu, Kebbi Governor Over Tsamiya Dry Port"

The establishment of the Tsamiya Dry Port on the border between Benin Republic and Kebbi State has brought relief to traders in Jega, who have hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris for the initiative. The dry port is expected to boost import and export of goods with ease and less cost.

The Special Adviser on Trade and Commerce to the Governor, Alhaji Nasiru DanMusa Jega, informed the Governor that the creation of the Tsamiya Dry Port would enable merchants to bring in their merchandise directly from Benin Republic without incurring additional costs. A delegation of Jega traders, led by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for basic and Secondary Education, Kabir Labbo Jega, paid a solidarity visit to the Governor at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Saturday evening. The traders expressed their gratitude to the Governor for his support in boosting commerce and trade in Jega.

"We affirm our unalloyed support, cooperation, and loyalty to you and your administration," DanMusa said. "Your good virtues, conduct, and compassion have endeared us to your leadership."

The leader of the delegation, Kabir Labbo Jega, urged the Governor to disregard negative comments and insinuations against his administration. "Your Excellency, the entire inhabitants of Jega are in support of your government, policies, and programmes; we shall forever remain grateful and loyal to you," Labbo said.

The traders also appealed to the Governor to talk to President Tinubu to complete the Independent Power Project sited between Kalgo and Basaura in Kebbi State to improve energy and electricity supply for industrial development.

In response, Governor Nasir Idris thanked the people of Jega for their love and support, reiterating his commitment to promote the commercial activities of the town through investment and empowerment. "I will talk to Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano to include Jega traders into the Kano Chamber of Commerce, and also look into Kebbi Chamber of Commerce to enhance its operations and economic impact," the Governor said.

The Governor also assured the traders that he would take steps to widen the horizon of industrial growth in the state. "Kebbi is our collective state, we must join hands to make it great and shun detractors whose only penchant is ill-will and retrogression," he added.
