Bauchi Muslim Parliament Calls for Unity on Peace, Security

The Bauchi State Muslim Parliament, popularly known as Majlis-Shura, has urged Muslim faithful to give full support to ongoing efforts aimed at addressing insecurity in Nigeria. The call was made by the Parliament's organizing secretary, Alhaji Yahaya Tanimu, during a one-day workshop on leadership and good governance for Imams, Islamic scholars, and other stakehol
Tanimu emphasized the importance of collective efforts in tackling insecurity challenges such as banditry and kidnapping in Northern Nigeria. "The absence of an effective security structure has worsened the plight of communities, leaving many vulnerable," he lamented. He disclosed that the office of the Chairman Senate Committee on Security and National Intelligence, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, has shown strong support for the initiative, recognizing its value in promoting peace and strengthening national security.
The Parliament commended Senator Buba for his proactive steps towards improving peace and stability in the country. The State Chairman of the Muslim Parliament, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Jahun, explained that the workshop was designed to equip participants with the knowledge to preach the significance of conflict resolution in Islam and the need for unity among communities.

Participants, drawn from all 20 local government areas of Bauchi State, pledged to put the knowledge gained into practice and extend it to their respective communities to promote lasting peace and harmony. The workshop underscores the commitment of the Muslim Parliament to fostering peaceful coexistence and unity in the state.
