In a bid to strengthen security in Augie Local Government Area, the Federal Government has announced plans to establish a new Forward Operational Base (FOB) of Special Forces in Runtuwo town. Governor Nasir Idris revealed this during a visit to Augie, emphasizing his administration's commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.
The Governor noted that Augie was once a peaceful community but has recently faced security challenges. "My administration has taken decisive steps to address these issues and ensure the area's safety," he said. The new FOB, to be manned by Special Forces from Abuja, aims to restore security and create an environment conducive to growth and development.
Governor Idris stressed that security is a prerequisite for progress, saying, "Without security, growth and development are impossible." He expressed confidence that the new FOB would bring relief to the people of Augie, allowing them to live without fear.
Beyond security, the Governor announced plans to revamp the Augie General Hospital, responding to pleas from the local community. He also urged eligible voters to obtain or renew their voter's cards, emphasizing the importance of civic participation.
In a stern warning to public officials and those benefiting from government patronage, Governor Idris said, "Those who fail to serve the people will be replaced." He emphasized the need for leaders to prioritize the welfare of their constituents, adding, "As you receive, so should you give – that's the spirit of democratic dividends."
The Governor's visit also included the commissioning of a new APC party office in Augie and participation in a prayer session for the success of his administration.
