The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims in an operation conducted in the Shanga hills. The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M Sani, reiterated the command's determination to safeguard the lives and property of the good people of Kebbi State.
According to the police report, on July 27, 2025, at about 0200hrs, a gang of kidnappers armed with sophisticated weapons invaded Sangara village in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The kidnappers abducted Muhammad Nasamu Namata, aged 25 years, Gide Namata, aged 20 years, and Hamidu Alhaji Namani, aged 35 years, all from the same address, and took them to an unknown destination.
The Divisional Police Officer, Shanga, promptly mobilized a combined team of security personnel, comprising the Police, Army, National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Vigilantes, and hunters, for a search and rescue mission. CSP Nafiu Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer, stated, "Upon receiving the report, the Divisional police Officer, Shanga, mobilized a combined team of security personnel for search and rescue mission."
During the ongoing operation, the security team trailed the kidnappers to Shanga hills and engaged them in a fierce gun duel. Due to the high firepower of the combined security personnel, the suspected kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled into the forest with fatal wounds. CSP Abubakar noted, "While the operation was ongoing, they trailed the kidnappers at Shanga hills and engaged them into a fierce gun duel."
The victims were successfully rescued on July 31, 2025, at about 1530hrs, and are currently receiving treatment at a facility before being reunited with their families. CP Bello M Sani commended the bravery, commitment, and professionalism displayed by the combined team of security personnel, stating, "The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, had commended the bravery, commitment and professionalism displayed by the combined team of security personnel in rescuing the victims promptly."
CP Sani charged the security team to sustain their synergy, emphasizing that no security outfit can achieve this alone. He said, "He charged them to sustain the synergy amongst them, as no security outfit can do it alone."
Reiterating the command's readiness to safeguard lives and property, CP Bello M Sani appealed to residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station for prompt response.
