Gun Battle: Kebbi Police Neutralize Kidnappers, Recover Arms

The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state. In a daring operation, the police neutralized three suspected kidnappers and recovered one AK47 rifle, one magazine, and seven live ammunition in Shanga.

According to the Command, the operation was carried out on August 24, 2025, at about 0230hrs, after intelligence reports revealed that a gang of suspected kidnappers was planning to kidnap commuters on the Tungar-Giwa/Saminaka road. The Divisional Police Officer, Shanga, swiftly mobilized a combined team of Policemen and vigilantes, who engaged the suspected kidnappers in a fierce gun duel.

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, praised the DPO Shanga and his team for their swift and courageous response. "The successful operation has demonstrated the Command's determination to secure the State against violent crimes," he said. He also appreciated the role played by the local communities for sharing intelligence promptly, which was instrumental in the success of the operation.

CP Sani reiterated the importance of sustaining collaboration between the police and members of the public. "Prevention of crimes remains the best strategy in safeguarding the lives and property of the good people of Kebbi State," he said. He urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station or other security agencies.

The Kebbi State Police Command has intensified patrols around Shanga and adjoining communities to prevent incursions by criminal elements. The Command's efforts have yielded positive results, with several suspected kidnappers and other criminals being neutralized in recent times.
