The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has lost his father, Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo, at the age of 83. This was announced in a press statement issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo.
According to the statement, the father of the Governor passed away a few hours ago. Details of the funeral arrangements are yet to be fixed, but it will be communicated in due course when the deceased's body arrives in the state. The Janazah (funeral) will be conducted and laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
"The Kogi State Government regrets to announce the passing of the father of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Late Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo, who returned to his Creator a few hours ago at the age of 83," the statement read.
The Kogi State Government prayed for the soul of the deceased, seeking forgiveness for his shortcomings and acceptance of his good deeds. "We pray to Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus," the statement added.
The government also prayed for the strength and fortitude of the Governor, his family, and the entire Ododo family to bear the loss. "We also pray that Almighty Allah grants the Governor, his family, and the entire Ododo family the strength to bear this great loss with fortitude," the statement concluded.
The news of the passing of the Governor's father has sent shockwaves across the state, with various leaders and groups expressing their condolences. The Kogi State Government has expressed its solidarity with the Governor and his family during this difficult time.
