The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State has taken decisive action against members deemed to be working against the party's interests. In a press conference held in Gombe on Tuesday, the State Chairman of the ADC, Malam Auwal Abba Barde, announced the expulsion of Nafiu Bala and the removal of three senior officials from office.
Those affected include Bala, who was expelled from the party after declaring himself the National Chairman of the ADC, State Deputy Chairman Nasiru Lawan, State Secretary Danladi Ya’u, and State Youth Leader Abdulkadir Sa’idu (popularly known as Digiri). According to Barde, the disciplinary measures followed thorough investigations and recommendations by party organs.
Barde explained that Bala’s expulsion was based on the findings of the Nasarawo Ward Disciplinary Committee, which found him guilty of gross misconduct, factionalization, and anti-party activities. "By parading himself as the National Chairman of the ADC, Nafiu Bala not only misrepresented the party’s leadership but also caused serious confusion and division within our ranks," Barde stated.
The chairman added that Bala was duly invited to appear before the committee and defend himself but failed to do so. The State Executive Committee has ratified the ward’s recommendation and will forward the decision to the national leadership for further enforcement.
Barde stressed that the action was meant to send a clear warning that indiscipline, disloyalty, and sabotage would not be tolerated in the ADC. "The committee reviewed the allegations and established that these individuals consistently acted in ways that undermine the progress of our great party," he said.
Despite the disciplinary action, Barde assured members that the ADC remained strong and united as it prepared for the 2027 general elections. "As the political drums beat louder ahead of 2027, the ADC is determined to secure more seats in Gombe State and beyond. These incidents are mere stumbles that will not make us fall," he added.
The development is seen as one of the boldest disciplinary steps taken by the ADC in Gombe State in recent years, signaling the party’s resolve to consolidate its structures ahead of the next polls.
