The Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Governor on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki, has flagged off the commencement of the 2025 mosquito fumigation exercise in Sharyar Sarakunan, Rafin Atiku, and Nasarawa on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony in an interview with journalists, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki explained that the fumigation exercise, which is in three phases, was flagged off a bit late due to his involvement in the 2025 Hajj exercise.

According to him, the aim of the exercise is to give back to his society, particularly his immediate area of jurisdiction. "We all know the effect of mosquito bites and the consequences to human bodies after it bites. That's why I found it necessary within my capacity to embark on this project to assist the community people," Alhaji Yahaya Sarki said.

He expressed his gratitude to the Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, for encouraging him to work for the people. "Our principal officer has motivated us to work for our people, and that's why I decided to initiate this mosquito fumigation exercise with the support of my brother, Permanent Secretary Ministry for Lands and Housing, TPL Abubakar Ahmed, among other key stakeholders in my area."

The Special Adviser highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the present administration of Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, including the execution of major highways, roundabouts, culverts, and drainages within Birnin Kebbi, the state capital. He also mentioned the ongoing road construction projects in Argungu and Yauri, as well as the Koko-Zuru road.

Alhaji Yahaya Sarki called on the youth not to be carried away by new political coalitions or movements, saying, "Let's look at the developmental projects executed by Kauran Gwandu's administration. If we give him another four years in office, more projects will be witnessed."

He further urged the community people to observe environmental sanitation weekly or monthly to avert any outbreak of meningitis or cholera.

Hakimi Haruna, representative of Baraden Nasarawa, District Head of Nasarawa, expressed gratitude to Alhaji Yahaya Sarki for the gesture. "In those days, it was government that used to flag off fumigation, but today, the initiative comes from one of us who has the foresight to assist us in the area of mosquito bite fumigation."

TPL Abubakar Ahmed, Permanent Secretary Ministry for Lands and Housing, also thanked the Special Adviser for the foresight to assist the people by embarking on the fumigation exercise. "On behalf of the good people of Shirya Sarakunan and Nasarawa, I sincerely appreciate Alhaji Yahaya Sarki for this initiative," he added.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by notable personalities, including TPL Abubakar Ahmed; Engr. Imran Bin Usman, Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs; and community leaders.
