In a shocking move, Abubakar Malami, SAN, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced his resignation from the party and his decision to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This development comes after wide consultations and deep personal reflection, according to Malami.
In a statement released on July 2, 2025, Malami cited the APC's failure to address the nation's pressing issues, including insecurity, economic hardship, and poor governance, as the reason for his decision. "Nigeria is bleeding. Insecurity has taken over our homes, especially in the North. Banditry, kidnappings, and terrorism have become part of our lives while the government prioritizes politics over the safety of its citizens," Malami lamented.
He further stated, "Our economy is in shambles. Prices of basic food items have tripled. The poor can no longer feed their families. Jobs are disappearing. Young people are hopeless." Malami expressed his disappointment with the government's focus on propaganda and political distractions rather than real solutions.
Malami revealed that his decision to join the ADC was inspired by love for the nation and concern for the hardship Nigerians are facing. "I cannot remain part of a system that watches in silence as Nigerians suffer and die," he declared.
The legal luminary expressed his optimism about the ADC's potential to chart a new course for Nigeria. "I believe that through this coalition and with the support of Nigerians, we can chart a new course for our beloved country," he said.
Malami assured the people of Kebbi State that he would never abandon them and that his decision to join the ADC was aimed at amplifying their voice and protecting their interests. "To the people of Kebbi State, I remain your son and servant. I will never abandon you. This move is to amplify your voice, protect your interests, and restore hope to our future," he stated.
In a call to action, Malami urged all Nigerians to join the movement and reclaim their nation. "To every Nigerian, I urge you to join this movement. Let us rise above fear and reclaim our nation. Nigeria belongs to all of us," he concluded.
