Adopted Father Alhaji Kabir Sinkin Kamba Kamba, Kebbi State - A heartwarming display of community spirit and solidarity was on full display today, Wednesday, July 2, 2025, as the abandoned baby rescued in Kamba and currently under the care of Alhaji Kabiru Sinkin Kamba was officially named Hafsat Kabir.
The colourful and well-attended naming ceremony, held at the residence of Alhaji Kabiru in Sinkin Kamba, attracted a large gathering of well-wishers from both Kamba town and surrounding areas. The Technical Working Group (TWG) on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) was also represented at the event.
Her Excellency, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Kauran Gwandu, the First Lady of Kebbi State and Chairperson of the TWG on GBV, was ably represented by Hajiya Rafaatu Hammani, former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. Hajiya Rafaatu Hammani generously donated a significant amount of cash and essential baby items to support both the ceremony and the welfare of baby Hafsat.
"I am delighted to be part of this special occasion, and I pray that baby Hafsat grows up to be a blessing to her adoptive family and the entire community," Hajiya Rafaatu Hammani said.
All donations and items have been formally handed over to her adoptive father, Alhaji Kabiru Sinkin Kamba. Those who wish to render support are most welcome and encouraged to do so.
Prayers were offered for Hafsat’s good health, protection, and guidance throughout her life. The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to identifying and bringing the perpetrator of the abandonment to justice.
The TWG on GBV remains committed to monitoring and supporting the care and well-being of baby Hafsat as she grows.
