Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, July 12, 2025 - Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has paid a condolence visit to the families of three mobile police officers killed in a bandit attack along the Zogirma/Tilli Road. The governor's visit was a demonstration of the government's solidarity with the families of the slain officers.
During the visit, Governor Idris consoled the families, assuring them of the state's commitment to ensuring their safety and security. "We will not take the sacrifice of our brave officers for granted. We will do everything possible to ensure that those responsible for their deaths are brought to justice," he said.
The governor expressed deep concern over the role of informants in facilitating bandit activities in the state. He announced plans to enact a law that would prosecute individuals identified as informants, with severe penalties. "If convicted and sentenced to death, I will not hesitate to sign for execution of any person found guilty," he warned.
Governor Idris emphasized that informant activities are a significant challenge to security in Kebbi State. "While Kebbi is not typically known for high levels of insecurity, our serious challenge is informant activities, and these informants are within our midst," he said, urging them to desist from their activities.
The governor also highlighted the state's ongoing collaboration with the federal government to improve security. "We are working closely with the federal government to deploy additional troops and equipment to enhance security in the state," he added.
The District Head of Zogirma, Alhaji Tijjani Muhammad, thanked the governor for his humanitarian gesture. He appealed for more security personnel and operational equipment to reinforce the town's security architecture. "We're in need of more security personnel and operational equipment, and we are sharing a border with the Republic of Niger, which makes us vulnerable to invasions," he said.
The governor's entourage included several dignitaries, demonstrating the government's commitment to supporting security agencies and the people of Kebbi State during this difficult time.
