Birnin Kebbi - Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has expressed optimism that the state will benefit from its potential partnership with Brazil. The Governor made this assertion on Monday, when a Brazilian delegation led by the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs, Dr. Tope Kolade Fasua, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
Governor Idris noted that the state is creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. "We are creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive," he said.
Dr. Fasua informed the Governor that the delegation was in Kebbi State to explore areas of cooperation, particularly in the rice value chain. "President Tinubu is determined to strengthen relationship with the Brazilian President, Lula, for the mutual benefit of the two nations," he said. "Kebbi is among the few states that businessmen from Brazil pinpointed as a hub of doing business, especially in the agricultural sector."
Dr. Fasua further highlighted the potential benefits of the partnership, stating that Brazil is a major agricultural country that can offer expertise to states like Kebbi. "Brazil is among the big agricultural countries of the world which has the capacity to offer expertise to states like Kebbi," he added. He also mentioned the state's tourist attractions, including the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, which is recognized by the United Nations.
The Vice Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply, Mr. Cleber Oleveira, echoed Dr. Fasua's sentiments, stating that the delegation was in Kebbi on behalf of the Brazilian Government. "We are here to explore areas of cooperation on agriculture and livestock development," he said. "The Vice President of Brazil is due in Nigeria on Tuesday to consolidate on the success of our advance visit."
The delegation was accompanied by the Chairman of WACOT Rice Mill, Argungu, Faruq Gumel, who was part of the visit to the Government House
