"Military Widows Laud Governor Idris: Award Presented for Compassion"

Birnin Kebbi - The Military Widows' Association, Kebbi Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Monday. The association's Chairperson, Asama'u Umar, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his compassion and recognition of the sacrifices made by fallen soldiers.

"The situation of a widow is that of pain and struggle, Your Excellency, you've shown compassion, sympathy, and empathy to the families of fallen soldiers," Asama'u Umar said. She further expressed the military widows' gratitude to the Governor, stating that his gestures had restored hope and dignity to them. "You stood by us in our period of tribulations, you restored hope and dignity to us through welfarism, charity, and empowerment," she added.

Asama'u Umar revealed that the military widows, numbering over 500, have decided to present an award to Governor Idris in recognition of his compassion and care. "We are resolute in prayers for your success in steering the affairs of our dear state, and your return as Chief Executive for another tenure in 2027," she said.

In response, Governor Idris reiterated the nation's appreciation for the sacrifices of fallen heroes who laid their lives to defend the country's sovereignty and integrity. "No responsible leader will ever forget your husbands who paid the supreme price to safeguard our wellbeing as a people," he said. "We shall not be where we are today without the valour, gallantry, and nationalism demonstrated by fallen soldiers in keeping the nation a united entity."

The Governor assured the military widows of the state's continued support, promising to provide them with a vehicle to ease their movement, as requested. "Kebbi State Government will continue to assist you in whatever way necessary," he stated.
