In a significant development, the Zamfara State Chairman of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Alhaji Muhammad Bala Nasarawar Burkullu, alongside his state and 14 local government executives, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defection was facilitated by Member of the Federal House of Representatives from Zamfara State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Aminu Sani Jaji, who is representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency.
The defectors were welcomed into the APC by Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya Anka, the Zamfara State Chairman of the APC under the Jajiya Political Movement. The movement has been instrumental in attracting new members to the party in the state. Another prominent political chieftain from Maradun Local Government Area, Alhaji Sani Bawa Damaga, also defected to the APC, bringing hundreds of his supporters along.
According to the NCP National Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Bala, the decision to join the APC was informed by the party's strength and dominance in Zamfara State and the country at large. "We are convinced with the Jajiya Political movement, mutual understanding with Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, so we decided to join APC," he said. "We will remain in the party for the development of our dear state."
Alhaji Sani Bawa Damaga, on his part, expressed satisfaction with the performance and representation of Aminu Jaji, citing various developmental achievements recorded in his constituency and Zamfara State. "People of Maradun Local Government will continue to remain in the party under the able leadership of Aminu Sani Jaji for the wellbeing of the people of Zamfara State," he said.
Welcoming the defectors, Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya Anka commended their decision to join the APC, describing the Jajiya movement as the strongest political group in the state with active structures across the 14 local government areas. He promised that the defectors would be engaged in the party's activities without discrimination and urged them to promote unity, peace, and stability within the APC.
The Federal lawmaker, Aminu Sani Jaji, represented by Former Commissioner for Higher Education in Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammed Gurbin-Bore, described the defection as a welcome development for the party. Jaji assured the defectors of fair treatment and good working relationships, expressing confidence that their experience and caliber would boost the strength of the Jajiya Movement and the APC in the state.
"I urge you to remain with APC and feel free to contribute to the best of your capacity for the development of the party," Jaji said.
