The Lake Chad Peace & Development Initiative (LCPD) joined the nation to mark the 2025 National Children's Day Celebration in Damaturu, Yobe State. The event brought together government representatives, development partners, educators, and children from across the state.
The LCPD, with support from ActionAid Nigeria under the Local Rights Programme (LRP), celebrated the day with 50 children from local rights communities. The event featured cultural performances, a quiz competition, a panel talk on child protection, and a keynote address highlighting progress made in implementing the Yobe State Child Protection Law.
According to a statement by ActionAid Nigeria, the children had the opportunity to interact with peers, display talents, and engage in enriching activities that built confidence and self-expression. "To crown the day, the children were presented with prizes and gifts in recognition of their participation and enthusiasm," the statement read.
The event served as a powerful platform to amplify children's voices and emphasized the urgent need to prioritize child protection services across the state. The LCPD remained committed to promoting safe spaces, inclusive opportunities, and brighter futures for every child.
