The Kebbi State Government has announced plans to empower 65,000 youths with a grant of N100,000 each in the second phase of the Kaura Cares Scheme. Governor Nasir Idris made the announcement at a Youths Interactive Session held in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
The governor recalled that in the first phase of the scheme, the government disbursed N6.5 billion to 65,000 recipients, and promised to replicate the feat in the next phase. "My administration is establishing Skills Acquisition Centres throughout the state, while a pilot scheme to convert one school in each of the four Emirates into an ICT Centre will be implemented," he said.
The Minister of Youths Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, who witnessed the interactive session, expressed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to youths development. "President Tinubu believes in youths, he will continue to evolve programmes for the development of youths and engage younger people in the task of nation building," the Minister remarked.
In a show of support to the youths, Governor Nasir Idris presented the keys of an 18-seater bus to youth groups as a donation for transportation. This gesture is seen as part of the government's efforts to empower the youths and enhance their socio-economic well-being.
