The Managing Director of Kaduna Electric Distribution Company (KAEDCO), Umar Abubakar Hashidu, has assured that work on the collapsed 330 KV power tower transmission line from Kainji to Birnin Kebbi is in the final process of completion, paving the way for the restoration of electricity. Hashidu made this assurance while briefing journalists at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Tuesday, after a meeting with Governor Nasir Idris.

He explained that three towers of the 330 KV capacity Birnin Kebbi transmission line had collapsed, leaving no power supply from Kainji to Birnin Kebbi and Sokoto. However, he noted that KAEDCO receives supply from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and that there is currently a back feed to Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara through Talatar Mafara, coming from Enugu to Benue to Zaria.

"By this week, the 330 KV will come back to life to restore power to Kebbi, Sokoto," the MD assured. "The four transmission stations are active."

The KAEDCO MD's assurance has brought hope to residents of Kebbi and Sokoto states, who have been without electricity for some time due to the collapsed transmission line. With the repair work nearing completion, it is expected that power supply will soon be restored to the affected areas.
