FUBK Appoints New Registrar, Elevates 4 Academic Staff to Professorship

The Governing Council of Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has approved the appointment of Barr. Abdulkadir Abubakar as the new Registrar of the University for a term of 5 years. The approval was given at the Council's 29th meeting, held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, under the leadership of the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Col. Abdulmumini Aminu (Rtd.).

The new Registrar, Barr. Abdulkadir, holds a Master of Law Degree in Petroleum Law and Policy from the University of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom, and has 18 years of work experience in the university system. He previously served as Deputy Registrar and Head of Legal Unit in FUBK.

In a related development, the Council approved the promotions of four academic staff to the rank of Professor and three to Associate Professor (Reader). The newly promoted Professors are Dr. Bello Bala Diggi (Intellectual History), Dr. Mohammed Bashar Danlami (Virology), Dr. Muhammad Muazu Yusuf (Development Economics), and Dr. Yahaya Tajudeen Olarenwaju (Cell Biology and Genetics).

The appointments of Professors Bello Diggi and Bashar Danlami take effect from January 1, 2024, while those of Professors Muazu Yusuf and Tajudeen Olarenwaju are effective January 1, 2025. The newly promoted Associate Professors (Readers) are Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, Department of Business Administration; Dr. Abdullahi Umar, Department of Geography; and Dr. Ali Sherrif Kabara from the Accounting Department.

The University's Head of Information and Public Relations, Jamilu M. Magaji, signed the press release announcing the developments.
