"Kebbi State Govt Dismisses Homosexuality, Lesbianism Allegations"

The Kebbi State Government has vehemently denied allegations of homosexuality and lesbianism involvement among young ladies, girls, and married women in the state. According to Engr. Hon. Imran Ibn Usman, Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, the allegations made by Dr. Nasir Kigo during an Islamic gathering at Muhammadu Adamu Aliero Housing Estate Mosque are "not true and unfounded."

Dr. Kigo claimed that Sokoto State women were rated second in the federation in terms of homosexuals and lesbianism certification, and that Kebbi had 15,979 registered homo members with 18,567 registered lesbians. However, Usman stated that Dr. Kigo was invited to provide evidence to support his claims but failed to do so.

"The government cannot allow such allegations to damage the state's reputation and character," Usman emphasized. "We appeal to the public to disregard the allegations and to see the women of Kebbi State as having good character, attitudes, and conduct."

Usman also warned preachers to desist from making unsubstantiated claims, citing Quranic verses 108 of Surah Yusuf, 159 of Surah Ali-Imran, and 128 of Surah An-Nahal. Governor Nasir Idris's administration has made it clear that it will not tolerate such allegations and that anyone found guilty will face the full force of the law.

The state government has also been working to empower women and promote gender equality, partnering with organizations to provide training and economic opportunities for women. On behalf of the state government, Usman tendered an apology to the Sokoto State Government, Sultanate, Gwandu Emirate Council, and the entire women and people of both states.

"After thorough investigation, the government discovered that it was false information, therefore, we are calling on the general public to disregard this piece of information because it lacked merit," Usman said. He also announced that the government would take action against the mischief makers who made the allegations.

The Kebbi State Government's stance on the matter is clear, and it remains committed to upholding the dignity and reputation of its citizens. The government's efforts to promote gender equality and empower women are also noteworthy, as they aim to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.

However, the Kebbi State Government's response to the allegations made by Dr. Kigo demonstrates a commitment to fairness, justice, and the protection of its citizens' rights.
