The Kebbi State Government has approved the appointment of Dr Aminu Haliru-Bunza as the new District Head of Bunza in Gwandu Emirate. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Umar-Dutsinmari, and issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
According to the commissioner, the appointment followed the demise of District Head of Bunza, Alhaji Dr Mustapha Bunza in Bunza Local Government Area of the state," Umar-Dutsinmari said.
The commissioner explained that the Gwandu Emirate Council had received nine applications from the ruling houses who indicated their interest to contest for the vacant post. The candidates were screened by the Emirate's Selection Committee, and three applicants were finally selected as the most suitable candidates for the appointment.
"The three candidates selected are Dr Aminu Haliru-Bunza, Muhammad Bello Aliyu Bunza, and Alhaji Ladan Sajo-Bunza, while Dr Aminu Haliru-Bunza is considered and approved to be the new District Head of Bunza," Umar-Dutsinmari stated.
The appointment is a significant development in the traditional institution of Bunza, and Dr Haliru-Bunza's new role is expected to bring stability and progress to the area.
The statement was signed and issued via Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor.
