Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) hosted a stakeholders' town hall meeting in Bauchi yesterday, aiming to strengthen relations with the public and tackle misconceptions. The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to interact with hospital management and address concerns.
Prof. Yusuf Bara Jibrin, Chief Medical Director of ATBUTH, emphasized that healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. He reaffirmed the hospital's mission to deliver quality healthcare, advance medical research, and train healthcare professionals. Jibrin stressed the importance of strategic collaboration in sustaining healthcare excellence, saying, "A robust healthcare system does not discriminate based on financial status."
Jibrin also highlighted ATBUTH's initiatives, such as free emergency care, subsidized dialysis, and maternal healthcare programs. He urged policymakers, healthcare professionals, and community leaders to transition from passive observation to active engagement, stating, "Criticism without contribution leads nowhere."
The hospital's commitment to modern healthcare solutions and operational efficiency was reaffirmed by Prof. Bara. He noted that ATBUTH has performed pioneering research and treatment strategies for Lassa Fever management, significantly reducing mortality rates. The hospital has also subsidized kidney dialysis and provided free cesarean sections for underprivileged women.
Corps Commander Intifanus Ibrahim, Bauchi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), praised ATBUTH for its effective collaboration in providing emergency healthcare for accident victims. The District Head of Bauchi Township, Alh. Nuru Adamu Jumba, urged hospital personnel to address issues of inadequate hospital beds and improve patient care.
The meeting demonstrated ATBUTH's commitment to transparency, accountability, and community engagement, aiming to strengthen relationships with stakeholders and improve healthcare delivery.
