The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Iliya Umar Damagum, has called on Muslims to utilize the Ramadan fasting period to promote political cohesion and unity among Nigerians.

In his Ramadan message, issued on Saturday to mark the commencement of the 2025 annual Ramadan fasting, Damagum emphasized the importance of supplications for the improvement of peace and national development. "Nigeria needs political stability and unity, especially now that the country faces security and developmental challenges that threaten our survival as a nation," he stressed.

Damagum also urged wealthy Nigerians to extend their charitable efforts beyond their immediate families, citing the noble Prophet Muhammed (SAW) as an exemplary model of generosity, particularly during the month of Ramadan.

According to Malam Yusuf Dingyadi, Damagum's Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, the Acting National Chairman's message is a timely reminder of the values of unity, compassion, and generosity that underpin the Islamic faith.

As Muslims in Nigeria and around the world observe the holy month of Ramadan, Damagum's call to action serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of promoting unity and cohesion in the face of adversity.
