The Kebbi State Government has reiterated its dedication to providing free treatment for tuberculosis (TB) throughout the state, urging individuals with symptoms to undergo screening and treatment. This assurance was given by the Commissioner for Health, Comrade Yunusa Musa Isma'il, in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, marking World TB Day.
Comrade Yunusa highlighted Governor Nasir Idris's significant investment in combating the disease, including the approval for an isolation center last year to provide treatment for TB patients. "The governor has remained resolute that TB has no place in Kebbi, he has provided all that's required to fight the scourge and do the needful," the Commissioner stated.
Comrade Yunusa emphasized the dangers of TB globally and the state government's commitment to creating a TB-free environment. "TB is a dangerous disease worldwide, and the government of Kebbi is committed to a TB-free environment, as we celebrate the Day today," he added.
The Commissioner also extended congratulations to stakeholders, particularly Coordinator Shehu Gele, for winning an award for Kebbi's active performance in fighting TB. Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to partners for supplying equipment, including X-ray machines, for patient screening.
