The Council Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, has called for the opening of an alternative road into the Federal University Lokoja, following a fatal incident that claimed the lives of students. Adamu emphasized that creating an inner access road into the Felele Campus is the only way to prevent future occurrences.
According to Adamu, banning trailers from plying the road during the day, as suggested by many, is not a viable solution. Instead, he urged the university to create a new access road and gate along the Agbaja road into the school by Bakomba. This measure would eliminate the need for the Felele/Crusher route.
Adamu lamented the loss of life and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. He highlighted the benefits of the alternative route, stating that it would allow Felele- bound shuttles to bypass the university's main gate and the Crusher/Felele route, instead entering and exiting the campus through Felele Junction. This would effectively free them from the dangers posed by articulated trucks on the highway.
As the Council Chairman of Lokoja LGA, Adamu has been a strong advocate for improving the lives of residents. During his inauguration of 10 councillors, he promised to run an inclusive government and ensure that everybody living within the area was carried along in governance.
