The M-Tech Universal Concept Limited's Foundation has awarded scholarships worth N45 million to 450 indigent students from Kebbi State, enabling them to pursue tertiary education. Alhaji Maniru Musa-Jega, Managing Director of the foundation, announced this during the launch of the program in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
"Over 450 Kebbi indigent students will benefit from the sponsorship of JAMB forms and training on how to answer questions and answers of JAMB, and out of these, over 200 have gained admission into various tertiary institutions across the state, receiving N100,000 each," Musa-Jega explained. The students were carefully selected from six local government areas, with some already studying and others having secured admission to various universities nationwide.
MD M-TECH Universal Concepts, Arch Manir Musa Jega, revealed that his foundation pays school fees for orphans, less privileged, and special needs persons across six LGAs in the state. "The reason for doing this is that their parents do not have the means, and some of them are orphans who lost their parents. We pay for the first year because the Kebbi State government pays for their scholarship, but before the payment, the students could not meet the deadline for payment. Based on this and the fact that they are from poor families and some are orphans, it was the main reason why my foundation came in and paid for them, so they can feel equal to any other child."
Musa-Jega further stated, "Once we paid for them, later, after the government paid the institutions, they will be reimbursed by the institutions, which will serve as their upkeep allowance or they will use this money to cater for their daily needs. My foundation also paid their hostel fees until they graduated. We issued JAMB forms to 450 beneficiaries, and out of this number, over 200 secured admission into various tertiary institutions across the state. Those who secured admission are the beneficiaries of today's program, each receiving the sum of N100,000 as their school fees."
Governor Nasir Idris, represented by his Deputy, Sen. Umar Abubakar-Tafida, commended Musa-Jega for his generosity, describing it as a worthy example for patriotic and well-to-do individuals in the state. "This assistance will bring rewards not only in this life but also in the hereafter," the governor stated. He encouraged wealthy and capable individuals to emulate Musa-Jega's example, supporting the state government's efforts to provide free and quality education.
Commissioner for Higher Education Alhaji Isah Tunga praised Musa-Jega's sponsorship, saying it aligns with the state government's manpower needs. "We all have a role to play in making education better, qualitative, and stronger, and we must thank Musa-Jega for this wonderful gesture," Tunga said.
Additionally, Musa-Jega expressed gratitude to Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, ministers from the state, the three senators, top government officials, politicians, university dons, and professors, particularly Professor Bello Daudun Bada, for attending the disbursement of the M-TECH educational foundation scholarship at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi. He appealed to well-meaning individuals to assist less privileged, orphans, and special needs persons across the state, particularly in the area of education from primary to tertiary levels.
