Kebbi State Receives Accolades from NUJ National Leadership for Airport Upgrade

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Central Working Committee (CWC) members, led by National President Alhassan Yahaya, visited the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, as part of their maiden meeting after the national delegates conference.

The CWC members, who arrived at the Sultan Abubakar International Airport Sokoto, were received by National Vice President Tukur Dutsinmari and some members of the state executive council. Upon arrival in Birnin Kebbi, they were taken to the airport, where they were received by Commissioner of Information and Culture Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi and Permanent Secretary Habibu Sabi Kamba.

During the visit, the Permanent Secretary explained that the construction of the fuel dump site was necessitated by the need to satisfy requirements for hajj operations and local air transportation. "The Airport has now become a hub where international and local aircrafts passing by land in order to refuel and move on," he said.

The visiting journalists expressed delight at the development and hoped to be availed of other key achievements of the Kebbi state government. The NUJ National President, Alhassan Yahaya, commended the state government for the airport development, noting that it would enhance air transportation in the state.

The CWC members will visit some key infrastructure in the state capital tomorrow, while their meeting takes place later in the evening into the night. The meeting, which starts tomorrow at Saffar Hotel, is expected to wind up on Thursday.
