The Kebbi State Police Command has commenced the enforcement of third-party motor insurance across the state, in compliance with the directives of Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun . The enforcement exercise, which began on February 1, 2025, aims to ensure that all vehicle owners in the state have valid third-party insurance coverage.
According to the Police Command, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, is personally monitoring the extent of compliance among motorists in the state capital, while Area Commanders have been directed to replicate the exercise in their respective areas of responsibility.
CP Bello M Sani, Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, urged residents of the state, particularly vehicle owners, to update their third-party insurance to avoid sanctions. "We want to ensure that all vehicle owners in the state have valid insurance coverage, as mandated by law," he said.
The enforcement of third-party motor insurance is part of a nationwide effort to ensure that all vehicles on Nigerian roads have valid insurance coverage. The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has partnered with the Nigeria Police Force to enforce the policy, which is compulsory for all vehicle owners in the country.
Vehicle owners in Kebbi State are advised to update their third-party insurance to avoid any sanctions or penalties. The Police Command has assured that the enforcement exercise will be carried out in a fair and transparent manner.
