The Nigeria Police Force has dealt a significant blow to banditry and human trafficking in the country, with a series of successful operations across several states. According to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the NPF Public Relations Officer, operatives disrupted a strategic meeting of bandits in a forest in Kogi State on January 18, 2025.
During the operation, security forces engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, neutralizing one and apprehending four others. The police also recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 30 rounds of live ammunition, and two motorcycles from the scene.
In another development, the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters in Katsina State received a distress call about suspected bandits planning to attack Ruwan Doruwa Village. Police operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, intercepted the bandits and engaged them in a fierce gun battle, killing seven and recovering 109 livestock suspected to be rustled animals.
The Nigeria Police Force has also intensified its efforts to combat human trafficking and illegal baby factories, rescuing over 207 abducted children from suspected traffickers nationwide. In one such operation, the Ondo State Police Command arrested a syndicate involved in child abduction and trafficking, rescuing 14 children between the ages of one week and seven years old.
The police have assured that they will continue to take a firm stance against criminal activities and ensure that offenders are brought to justice.
