Bauchi, Nigeria, May 21, 2026(Series News Online)— A coalition of youth and women groups in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State has warned that the All Progressives Congress risks losing its stronghold in the area to opposition parties unless the party initiates immediate reconciliation and inclusive leadership measures.
The coalition said the political climate in Toro LGA is currently marked by disillusionment and anger among party supporters, raising fears of possible realignment ahead of future elections.
At a press briefing in Bauchi on Friday, the coalition’s leader, Safiyanu Muhammad Tama, called on the APC leadership at the national, state, and local levels to involve Hon. Ibrahim Ali Usman in the party’s political and electoral activities.
“Hon. Ibrahim Ali Usman remains one of the few committed political figures in Toro LGA who has continued to demonstrate loyalty, commitment, and confidence in the APC despite prevailing political challenges,” Tama said.
According to Tama, Usman commands broad support among youths, women, and grassroots members of the APC in Toro LGA. He cautioned the party against sidelining the politician.
“The party leadership should not sideline or neglect him politically,” Tama said.
The group presented an open letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC stakeholders, stating that the intervention was meant to alert the party to an emerging crisis rather than to cause division.
“We write this letter with utmost sincerity, loyalty, patriotism, and concern for the future of our great party,” the coalition said. “This is not a rebellion against the APC leadership, but an honest political warning from committed party loyalists who fear that the APC may suffer avoidable political setbacks in Toro LGA if urgent intervention is not carried out.”
The coalition described Toro LGA as one of the APC’s strongest political bases in Bauchi State, with a track record of massive mobilisation and consistent electoral support.
“The youths and women of Toro LGA have remained steadfast in defending and promoting the APC through difficult political periods, opposition battles, and demanding campaign activities,” the coalition stated.
It noted that Toro LGA ranks second only to Bauchi LGA in voting strength and grassroots mobilisation capacity in the state.
Despite this, the coalition decried what it termed the political abandonment and marginalisation of Toro LGA within the APC structure.
The group cited recent developments involving Senator Shehu Buba and Dr. Ibrahim Ali Usman as a source of tension, noting that both are key APC stakeholders in the area.
“The withdrawal of Senator Shehu Buba from the contest and the denial of the senatorial ticket to Dr. Ibrahim Ali Usman had created disappointment, frustration, and uncertainty among party supporters in the area,” the coalition said.
It warned that failure to address the grievances through reconciliation and stakeholder engagement could erode the party’s strength in Toro LGA.
“If these growing concerns are not urgently addressed through reconciliation, inclusion, fairness, and proper stakeholder engagement, the APC risks weakening its political strength and unity in Toro LGA,” the coalition stated.
The group added that continued inaction could push loyal supporters to seek alternative platforms.
“As youths who interact daily with grassroots supporters, we understand the growing sentiments among party faithful. Silence at this critical moment may amount to political betrayal against the future of the APC in Toro LGA,” the coalition said.
It appealed to the APC National Chairman, the Bauchi State APC leadership, and other stakeholders to commence reconciliation and strategic political engagement in Toro LGA without delay.
While restating its loyalty to the APC, the coalition stressed that political recognition was essential to sustaining members’ commitment.
“APC remains our political home. However, loyalty must be protected with fairness, inclusion, and political recognition,” the group said.
The coalition concluded that sustained neglect of Toro LGA and unresolved tensions could undermine the APC’s structure in Bauchi State ahead of future polls.
